How we read your body
A smart ring on your finger, and the variation of your heart.
The signal
The smart ring measures the variation of blood volume under your skin, the same optical principle as the sensor on the back of a smartwatch. With every beat, blood slightly swells the vessels in your finger; a sensor reads that swelling about twenty-five times per second.
This is not an average heart rate shown at the end of the day. It is the full shape of every beat, and above all the gap between them. That gap is never regular, and that is exactly where what your body is living through resides.
From signal to artwork
The capture
You open the recording window from the app and close it whenever you want. In between, the smart ring records your heartbeats continuously. Nothing else is captured: no sound, no image, no location.
The reading
Your raw signal is cleaned, then split beat by beat. From it we extract the rhythm, its accelerations, its slowdowns and its irregularities: the material of the drawing.
The translation
Each beat becomes a line. Its length, its position and its colour depend on what your heart was doing at that precise instant. Nothing is added, nothing is invented: the form comes out of the data.
The composition
The artist works that material according to the artwork you chose, adjusts balance and density, then prints the artwork once.

Your data
Your capture data is used to compose your artwork. It is neither resold nor shared for commercial purposes. We do not use it to train models. What later moves our work forward are aggregated measurements, which reproduce no individual trace. You can ask to see your data, to correct it, or to delete it, at any time.
