Give a moment, and what remains of it

Most gifts get put away. This one starts with an evening two people spend facing each other, at home, and ends as an artwork printed once, composed from what their bodies did during that time.

What you are actually giving

Two smart rings arrive by mail, in their box. They are worn for about thirty minutes, during a moment the two people choose themselves: nobody from the studio is present, nothing is filmed, nothing is recorded as sound. The rings register variations in the heartbeat, and nothing else.

Then the studio composes. The trace of both people becomes an artwork, printed on fine art paper, with a numbered certificate tying it to the capture it came from. It is printed once. No digital file is handed over, and no reprint is possible.

The rings stay with the people who wore them. They are not returned and not borrowed: once paired with the manufacturer’s app, they carry on as everyday objects long after the artwork is on the wall.

The calendar, counted backwards from the date

This is the one thing that requires planning, and the question that comes up most. Rings leave the studio within three business days with a tracking number, and take one to two weeks to arrive. Allow two to three weeks between your order and the day you want to give it.

The artwork itself ships about two weeks after the experience ends. Those two weeks are studio work: the artwork is composed by hand from the trace, then printed. In other words, the gift unfolds in two acts, deliberately. What you hand over on the day is the moment; what arrives a month later is its trace.

If the date is too close, nothing is lost. Order, and give the announcement: the box will follow, and the evening happens whenever they decide. Nothing starts until they press Begin.

Ring sizes, when you do not know them

Two sizes are asked for at checkout, one per person. It is the only detail a surprise makes awkward, and it is easy to work around.

The safest method: quietly measure a ring they already wear, with a ruler, reading the inner diameter. Our guide gives the exact correspondence between that diameter and the size to order.

When in doubt, size up. A heartbeat reads better on a comfortable finger than on a tight one, and a ring that pinches degrades the capture before the evening even starts.

The ring size chart

What you hand over on the day

The ring box, with its charger. It is an object, it can be given, it can be opened in front of everyone. What it contains is not immediately obvious, and that is what makes the moment interesting: it has to be explained, and the explanation is as much the gift as the object.

One sentence does it. “You are going to spend half an hour together, and something of it will end up on the wall.” The rest they discover by opening the app, which walks them through it.

If you want the surprise to hold, say nothing about the artwork or the colours: those choices are made at checkout, and they are yours. The composition belongs to nobody. It depends entirely on what their two bodies did that evening.

Choosing by occasion

The protocol does not change from one occasion to the next, but the preparation changes a great deal. A wedding anniversary is ordered weeks ahead; a wedding day is already scheduled to the minute; Valentine’s Day falls on the same date for everyone, with February postal traffic to match.

  • A wedding anniversary, with the number of years as the starting point.
  • A wedding day, slotting the capture into an already full schedule.
  • Valentine’s Day, accounting for the February calendar.
  • Christmas, when the box has to be under the tree.

Frequently asked

Can I give this without knowing their ring sizes?
Yes. Size up when in doubt: a heartbeat reads better on a comfortable finger. The most reliable method is to measure the inner diameter of a ring they already wear.
How far ahead should I order?
Two to three weeks. Rings leave the studio within three business days and take one to two weeks to arrive. The artwork ships about two weeks after the experience ends.
Do they have to pick a date in advance?
No. Nothing is booked and nothing expires. They receive the rings and decide afterwards. Nothing is recorded until they press Begin in the app.
What exactly do they receive?
Two smart rings they keep, an artwork printed on fine art paper in one of three formats, and a numbered certificate tying it to their capture. Shipping is included in the price.
Can it be cancelled if the surprise falls flat?
Yes, as long as the capture has not started: the price of the artwork is refunded, and the cost of the two rings is retained since they stay with them. Once the capture has started, the artwork is composed from their data and printed once.

    Experience · The wedding day

We really love our piece. We wore our rings on our wedding day and completely forgot they were there. It was only that night, once everything was over, that it hit us.. The ring had been with us the whole time. We couldn't wait to see what would come out of it. When it finally arrived, we just stood there looking at it. This one stays in our home for good.
