What you give a couple who already has everything
After ten, twenty-five or forty years, the difficulty changes shape. You are no longer looking for something they will like: you are looking for something that is not a repeat. The vase, the frame, the bottle, the weekend away — all of it has been given at least once, often by the same person.
This one is not chosen from a catalogue, because it does not exist on the day it is given. What you hand over is an evening: two smart rings, a charger, and half an hour they will spend facing each other whenever they decide to. The artwork comes out of what happens during that time.
It is also the only wedding anniversary gift the two of them make at the same time. Every other one runs in one direction: one gives, the other receives. Here both traces enter the same artwork, and neither of them knows what it will look like.
