Sun

The Sun artwork sets your moment in a circle, around a centre. Alone, your heart draws your circle. For two, both your hearts draw the same circle — or a circle each.

The artwork

Each artwork is made of the moments recorded by the ring.

  • The artwork’s colours and shape are based on the biological data recorded during the moment.
  • Once you have chosen your guide, you will select the artwork to create and the colours you want.

How to read the Sun artwork

The centre of the artwork is the beginning of your moment. Every instant of your capture advances one notch around the centre and draws a line outward: the wider the artwork grows, the more time has passed. The outer edge of the artwork is the end of your moment.

The Sun artwork reads in every direction and changes with where you stand: from across the room you see the mass of lines and the general rhythm of the heart; at a metre you pick out the lines one by one.

For two in a single artwork, your two traces share the same circle and cross: in places, the lines of your two hearts merge.

What the colour does

You choose two colours at checkout. The first colour appears when the heart speeds up, the second colour when the heart slows down. At rest, the trace keeps a neutral tone.

The balance of colours is decided by your heart alone. A calm capture gives an artwork where the neutral tone dominates, crossed by rare flashes of colour; a restless capture gives an artwork where colour dominates.

What duration changes

A short capture and a long capture give two different Sun artworks, and the difference shows at first glance. The longer the capture runs, the wider the ring of lines grows and the tighter the lines pack against one another.

A short capture gives an open shape: each line stays separate and reads from across the room. A long capture gives a dense mass of lines, which reads up close. Thirty minutes is the balance point, and most people end their moment at around thirty minutes.

You choose the artwork and the colours at checkout, and you decide the duration during the moment: you press Finish whenever you want.

Who Sun is for

For you alone: your heart draws your circle. For two: both your hearts draw the same circle, in a single artwork — or a circle each, in two artworks.

To keep your two traces separate, choose Two Shores: the Two Shores artwork sets your two traces one above the other, one band per person.

The print

Two square formats on fine art paper, named after their frame: 12 × 12 in and 16 × 16 in. The artwork arrives framed, ready to hang, with its certificate. One more copy can be ordered with the artwork.

The artwork is delivered as a print only, and a numbered certificate ties the print to the original capture.

The artwork leaves the studio about two weeks after your moment ends.

Each artwork is composed from the unique variations of your heart.

The trace comes from your moment: it exists only once.

Frequently asked

Where does time begin in a Sun artwork?
At the centre of the artwork. Each instant advances one notch around the centre and draws a line outward; the outer edge is the end of your moment.
Can you tell the two people apart in the artwork?
In a single artwork for two, in places only: both traces share the same circle and cross. With an artwork each, every circle is the trace of a single heart.
Can two Sun artworks look alike?
Each trace is unique: two people produce two different traces, and one person produces a different trace in every moment. This uniqueness comes from how a heart is governed.
